Project Umbra
Intro
While Umbra is able to function as intended, we have also laid the foundations for additional features to help polish and enhance the design in future increments (prototypes). For example, we have a rudimentary vocal recognition system that can understand and execute commands based on a select set of rigid keywords. With additional development into this field, we could potentially look into vocal recognition across a plethora of accents and languages, making Umbra more user-friendly to a more diverse audience. In addition, we have only modeled a few key buildings within the city of Savannah. With additional time, we could flesh out more of the city to create a more cohesive and interactive experience as the user will be able to hold components of Savannah in their hands in higher detail. We have also researched and developed conceptual capabilities for implementing live information such as weather, traffic, and daily events that can be viewed in real-time and through an aesthetic that is unlike any other digital experience. Apart from this, we have also developed the potential process and resources necessary to model and display live information from SCAD campuses around the world. This would strongly complement any marketing opportunities SCAD attends to as it would grant its ambassadors the ability to showcase all of SCAD’s campuses in an interactive and ingenious manner. Finally, we have created the groundwork for implementing a multi-user capability in which two users may be able to interact and jointly make plans throughout and ask questions about the city of Savannah.
Map Generation
We used a landscape scan for the map in the project, after the landscape scan, the software will auto-generate the landscape model. The following image is the result of the landscape scan.

Sample 360 Image
We want to make the experience more personal. We want the user to feel they are actually in Savannah, and they can enjoy the lifestyle and the environment. So we decided to use 360 videos and images to make it happen. The equipment we were using is Samsung Gear 360 4K VR Camera.
Yelp information Implementation
We can pull the Yelp rating and information from the website, and using python code to implement it into Unreal Engine 4. That's why you can see the all the information about restaurants and hotels.
